The Safari Log is a notebook of check lists to enable tourists, safari guides or anyone in the wild, to record all the indigenous animals they see and identify – the wild mammals, birds, trees, and flowers – on safari in Kenya and thus learn more about the country they are visiting, enjoy it more and have a record to take home.
The first edition of the Log was printed some 20 years ago in London dealing with the wild mammals, birds and trees. It was sponsored by the WWF-UK and contributed to the World Wide Fund for Nature and was well recieved. It is now being produced in Nanyuki, Kenya, and the East African Wildlife Society has indicated a possible interest in sponsoring this local issue.
This new edition expands the original Log by including Kenya’s wild flowers of which there is wide and spectacular range.
Rather than spoiling their field guide books by writing in them, or using note books or pieces of paper, users
can quickly and easily turn to the appropriate coloured pages in the Log to note the animals they see and those they have yet to see.
The contents include a description of, and introductions to, the Log, why use it, how to use it, the user’s safari itinerary, a diary of daily events and what not to forget when preparing for a trip into the wild. Recommended guide books to use with the Log are also included as well as order forms, expenses sheets, extra note pages and the Safari Log owner’s personal contact details.
Companies can include an advertisement, a message and/or publicity letter in the leading pages using their corporate colours and logo and a description of their organization.
Optional extras include a tented camp check list , personal effects safari packing list, lists of wild orchids, herbal trees, bushes and plants, local grasses, fish, Swahili recipes and street maps of Nairobi and Mombasa and much more.
And the purchase price includes a donation to the
The East African Wildlife Society enabling buyers to contribute towards conservation of nature in Kenya. ———————————————————————-
